Exhaust, extractors, Cold Air Intake (CAI), Throttle Body - flow it out, increase the size. Cams are another option. Of course there is much more you can do. These are probably just the basics.

writing all these down and demanding my mechanic do them lol

The CAI you can ususally do yourself. Search the forums. Also forgot to add, a K&N Pod/Panel filter is another cheap mod almost EVERYBODY does. Im guessing around $100. But yeah all those mods, just the beginning. Theres some awesome N/A monsters in AMC land. Of course, it costs much more, if you want serious power, but this should be enough to keep you happy.

If you want serious N/A power, port and polish, stage 2 cams, upgraded internals (like pistons, valves etc.), then you'd get your full 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust including high flow-cat, pacemaker extractors and to make them all run as efficiently as possible you'd wanna chip it. You're looking at a few $G's at least though.

dude you looking at 5-6 grand for parts for a n/a rebuild, thats without labour, so id start saving your lunch money and do some extra chores, oh and its all well and good that you have 900 dollars, but all that gonna get you is some paper weights that look like stage 1 cams, then you need some money to get them in and working....
p.s- disciple, you such a rude bastard.... thats why i like you so much haha :bowrofl:

I just call it how it is, I expect people to do the same to me. It is school holidays tho right? Every time there is school holidays, people come on here asking how to get power, or make a thread about how they're gonna turbo their car, or make it RWD or something. I'm sure the guy will do some work to his car... eventually. The logistics of such an operation have been laid out before him.

3 angle valve job $120
Flow bench $220
Cams and Cam gears $1375
Balance engine $400
Head Gaskets $180
Pistons $400
Resize conrods +ARP Bolts $400
Rebore $250
Billet Flyywheel $600
Greddy Emanage and tune $800
Extractors and muffler $800
Clutch $600+ Labour
TOTAL $6300 ish

plus dude i can assure you any ignorance will cost you alot more than getting your mods asap would be worth...
cause i couldnt afford it my dohc conversion happen after 1.5yrs of me wanting to do it... i was able to do most of the work myself and save a penny... if you have the v6, dohc conversion is the only way to go, if you have a 2.6 astron turbo is the only way to go... sorry but anything else wont return any decent value for money

That's for the RPW model.
Genuine Mitsu is $300, ACL is cheaper but it's paper with metal inserts. :doubt:
Got any tips? :D

Import a MIVEC 6G72, and save yourself a few thousand dollars. I've already found 5 low klm ones from New Zealand from about $2000-$2500 (excluding shipping). I'm thinking of laying a deposit on one now, and paying it off after the HSC when I work more. However I believe all MIVEC's are tippy's, so you may want a manual conversion on it.
Then do some mods and notice the difference. The MIVEC is 200kW stock. If you don't want to supercharge or turbo, then getting huge power on a 20-30 year old engine design is a bit difficult.
Hope this helps.

i didn't think it was possible for a Mivec Engine conversion?

Pfft sif. How couldn't it be possible? Its a straight swap. A bloke in WA did it, and I believe RPW are doing another one.
Means lots of powerr... if you can find one :)

well when you think about it anything is possible for the right price :) yea i would love to oneday do the DOHC conversion but money is a prob, plus if you are to import a 2nd hand engine you would be better off getting it rebuilt to... so if you gonna do it probly it will cost alot no matter what way you go :) but the dohc is best way to go lol

yeah dude but that bolts to a third gen not a 2nd gen, as far as i know there are no mivec dohc that are a direct bolt in proposition for the 2nd gen... My dohc doesnt need a rebuilt yet either... these engines are well made so can easy do well past the 100000km's they do in japan...
Just a question; What the hell does this mean?;

Well a 'canary' is slang for the yellow defect stickers that the cops hand out like candy here in vic... So i'm guessing that MAGNAEXEC wants as much power as he can get without being defectable and without exceeding the power/weight ratio that P-platers are tied to...

Well you probably want a K&N panel filter, NO POD FOR YOU, also do extractors and a nice straight thru exhuast system with a rather quiet muffler.
That lot would set you back around 1k.
From there look to polished and ported heads, intake manifold and throttle body before needing an ecu upgrade.

RPW Ported & Polished Cyl Head Stage 1 Each $1,150.00
RPW Ported & Polished Cyl Head Stage 2 Each $1,300.00 :noway:
These prices are ex GST. It's very labour intensive.

If you've done a DOHC conversion, then it will go straight into your TS, as you already have the correct mounts.
It'll be like dropping it into my third gen.

Why go mivec anyway? spend the money on your engine and get a lot more out of it.

negative, the 6g72 with 157kw from the gto diamante sigma etc is a direct bolt in for a 2nd gen only, it has the gearbox on the drivers side...
The mivec 6g72 with 198kw is a bolt in for 3rd gens only, gearbox on the passenger side, i did the dohc conversion myself, you're wrong stop confusing people.
