ok i know it can be as simple as cutting springs and your G2G but i wanna do it properly but not all the way. now i have made some local calls and people are saying u must change suspension when changing springs so the car ride nice still, is it absolutle needed? so what else is involded in lowering it can i just get someone to put springs on and im done or must i get the suspension. i know i have to get it re aligned but is the suspension needed?
suspension and springs fitted are 1050
and for just springs its $550 thats going by average price in brisbane or maybe if someone is local that can help me out it would be much appreciated

Proper King springs or lovells dont cost more then $220 a set, so your paying over $300 labour.....WAYYYYYYYY too much man...
And shocks i would upgrade.....the ride sticks to the road like s**t to a blanket....its worth the extra $400..
and you dont have any mates who have some spring compressers? It can be done With yourself and a mate ya know...save a good few hundred in labour too..
And yes you can get them to just change the springs of course you can but you may aswell upgrade to performance shocks while yur have all the suspension apart

I paid $420 for kings lows.. and i've heard of cheaper. I didn't go the shocks. But I've had prices not exceeding $800 for the lows and koni shocks fitted, ready to go.

im about to lower my 98 advance and ive had the suspension guys telling me that i will need a camber kit, the front isnt too expensive around 60-80 but the rear is a lot more, cant remember how much tho.
it depends on how low you want to go. anything over 1.5inch drop you start developing problems with the camber allignment. im going for a 2inch drop allround myslf so looks like i should invest in a camber kit. otherwise id be getting poor handling and a new set of tires every 6months.

I paid 220 for super lows all round, took me an hour to put them in. Didnt change the struts just the springs, alls good so far, i think it only starts to screw your struts after a fair few thousand k's

dont you need a front and rear wheel alignment after doing this??

Provided you don't go too low and are not chasing extreme handling the standard shocks are OK. But then how many Kms have your shocks done, might be worth replacing now while the struts are out. Also does the TH sports have a rear anti-roll bar? If not then its definately worth it.
Camber kit - again only if after extreme handling or uneven tyre wear becomes an issue.

What i've always wanted to know is, are any of these springs as good as the slightly upgraded TH sports springs?

Try Phillcom Rally, they have a thread with prices further down the main forum page.
I intend to go through them after the HSC.

i had a quote for 30mm lowered lovells and KYB shocks. the springs were something like $230 or so for the 4 and the shocks were $425. supplied and fitted was just over a grand, but i havent shopped around yet.
*edit* anyone know cheaper in Melb? coz shops are limited in Geelong.

Yes they ARE mandatory!
When you lower your car you lessen the amount of shock travel. You NEED to replace your shocks with something that is made for that lesser distance. It's completely logical

Have to agree with killbilly on this one, I had my old shocks left in when the lowered springs went in, they did'nt last too long at all, sooo much better with new shocks in.
But its nothing special to change them over if you have the spring compressors, just take a photo of the spring and strut before you dissasemble it if your worried.
Also mark the top bolts, the ones that go through the tower with a nikko and run the mark down onto the body so you know which way to put them back in, as its one way only.

Unless the car only had low k's on it when the lowerd spings were put in.
