Well I finally got my baby painted just what I wanted. I think she is sweet as now. I got her done around about 2 months ago but am only now getting around to putting pics up.
I stayed with the orginal colour code of champayne but added my own blend of flair to her.Have a look see and let me know what you think. I have added only a few pics. Its so hard to get the full effect through the camera though

Great effect..now get some bigger wheels:)
Did you just get the clear sanded down and had that effect sprayed over the top or did you get the orginal color done too...

Why do people insist on quoting all of the pictures?

She was a full respray as she had a few small minor imprefections to her. Plus the sun damaged her and she was fading. I went for this look as i wnated to make a statement with the magna being an older car and still being able to be done up. And that she is in alot of car shows( stereo kind). I plan to get 17's next for her as the 16's look to small due to the style of the mag. And she needs to be lowered now. But Im happy with her at this point..

What sort of 17's are you looking at getting?

Not sure at this point. I really want to stick to chrome or shadow maybe. But as to the brand Im not sure what to go for. But i know i want it to have big dish on it

Shadow chrome would be my choice...but chrome would probably go well with that paint.
Big dish = winner :D
Are you going to remove the amber lense from your indicators?
Magna_ Girl_77
27-09-2006, 07:50 AM
yeah i meant to do this while it was getting painted but i couldnt seem to find any. Do you know what type and where i could get them.
Killbilly
27-09-2006, 07:52 AM
You can just remove the clear lense from the indicator and then you can remove the amber lense from inside. You just need to heat up the glue that holds the clear part on, so it can come off easily.
Once you do that, you then need to get some new globes that flash orange. You can either get orange globes or he silver ones that flash orange

No i didnt do inside the bonnet and doors i left just the base colour. As it was still in good nick and matches the car in the shade LOL i tend to do the inside the boot as when i open for the shows it will be there. It was a time factor as i had a car show to get to. The grille was done but only 2 coats of glitter still to get the other 4 layers done. Once again was a matter of timing as i had to purchase new one from ebay and they stuffed me around. But overall it turned out good.
Olfart i will have to pop over and show you in person the paint hey. Thats if I stop being a slacker... lol
Thanks heaps for the kind praise. I wasnt sure how it would go over with you all as it hasnt been done before:cool:

Hmmmm not my cuppa tea, but hard to say if it looks good through the pics. I reckon it would look alot better in person where you can get a perspective on the angle of light etc.
Big  for doing something different though!

Thanks for the nice words.
No its not called that. But that was the effect i was looking for with the ski boat look. Just not as extreme..
But like i said the photos do no justice..
I do know that i get lots of comments. From both male and females and also all ages.. Yesterday i had an older man( Older than ol fart) Stop me in the parking lot at shopping centre and ask me questions and compliment me on the paint work. Its nice to have the maggie noticed and people stop saying Y bother its just a magna..

Nice paint work. Washing her will be fun now.
Not sure if these are your cup-of-tea (although they are similar to the ones you have now).
Not sure what the reserve will be either :doubt:
But they are chrome and do have a nice deep dish. (see pic below)

*edit* oh, just realised they are 18's tho, you were after 17's. :doubt:
My rims have a nice big dish on em too - XHP Boost (click my signature - rims part)
But there's plenty out there, just need to browse the internet & walk into lots of tyre places until something says - WOW!
Good luck.
