Howdy yall - long time lurker (only joined recently though), few random posts here and there...
I have a 2005 TW ES (Series II) which I've just added a k&n air filter too, and I'm now looking at doing the next thing, and adding a good set of extractors and a decent exhaust system.
I've done the smart thing and searched the forums and used google, and come upon either a lukey + pacemaker setup, or a redback (possibly with resonator) + pacemaker setup.
The questions I have are thus:
Will I be able to get away with just a 'cat back' setup, or will I need to replace the whole exhaust system?
I'm looking for mandrel bent extractors only, and from what I've seen, pacemaker extractors are mandrel bent - has anyone here put in a similar setup to the ones I'm looking at doing?
Sound concerns me a bit - I would like the deep 'throaty' (as throaty as a V6 can be) notes in the low RPM's, but don't want it to get too drony, as I enjoy listening to music in the car. I could satisfy both urges with additional sound proofing in the car, but thats a path I'm not going to take.
So the nuts of this question is, is a plain redback & or lukey (catback) setup going to be droney - my investigations so far have basically proven that they can be droney, but some people either don't notice it, or don't care about it, hence a slight amount of caution before I go and put the moolah down on it.
I appreciate any/all replies...
Cheers!
