is it a common problem for the front left speaker to play up? mine cuts in and out all the time. still under warranty, they said they would replace the cd/radio but wondering if that will fix it? or is it common to have a speaker poo itself on a TL ES. thanks in advance

sounds to me like a loose wire either the wire to the speaker on on the speaker it self, when you take it in to get the h/u changed just get them to have alook at it for you

This is interesting. You're not the first list member to have this problem, there is another thread about this issue. My TL VRX LHS speaker crackles at times as well. So we're talking different head units as well. Now I'm wondering what the commonality with these problems is. Is it the location (water, dust, mounting, mechanical interference), wiring, or a crock batch of speakers only mounted on the LHS?

i just took the door trim and speaker off and had a look myself to see if there was anything obvious. but saw nothing i notice when it does happen if you give the door trim a smack it fixes it for a while so i am really lost until i take it back to mitsis for warranty repair.

now the other speakers are doing the same thing, cutting in and out. time for another call to the service department i think and get the head unit changed.

Check that the rear speaker wiring isnt earthing out on the speaker housing. Common problem but usually affects all speakers.

I have the same problem in the TF.. KJ hasn't had any problems so far!
TF speaker crackles and sounds like its blown! I replaced them from the stockos.. and the same thing.. Changed the H/U.. same thing..
I'm thinking of replacing all the wiring and see how we go then..

I had the same issue (cept it was the right and left speakers).
So I did what any sound lover would do, and replaced the whole lot with an Alpine job!
