random popping is happening when i brake or go over small bumps and things in the road. (note: not speed bumps or anything). i've checked all the grounds for the boot setup n stuff all is good no movement. the setup i have is this (dont laugh): 8 gauge cable running from battery to distribution box, 8 gauge running from distribution box to each amp, 1 560 watt (cheapy) 4 channel running a 1400 watt sony xplode sub bridged accross 2 channels, 1 720 watt 4 channel (boss audio) running some fusion 6" splits and sony xplode 3 way 6x9's (note both amps are running 8 gauge grounds to the same point in the boot floor), cheap DVD HU (us audio DVD player with usb connection and card reader), cheap 7" LCD screen, now for the 12v, ignition and ground i just sliced the screen and DVD player together and i'm running RCA connections for the amps, and speaker wire back (same path as the RCA's which is along the drivers side) for the fusion splits.

anyway any help with the popping would be very much appreciated and there is a reward too :D

for starters i would change the power wiring from 8ga to 4ga from the battery to the distribution box, this will give you amps abit more power and keep them running longer, you should notice abit of improvement when this is done
there might be a loose wire somewhere as its only happening over bumps, i would re-check every wire for your system.

try upgrading the power wire to 4ga from the battery to the distribution block and also add other ground in the engine bay from the battery 4ga minimum. this should get rid of the alternater whine and maybe fix the popping

yeah do the larger wiring from battery, and then make sure that your gains are set correctly. are you sure the sound is coming from your stereo? :P

Not that it makes much difference but your running 8ga into more 8ga...so basically the size of the wire in the end going to each amp would be like sub wire.....almost 16ga......wayyy too thin man!!!

upgrade your wiring pronto...

get 4ga from battery to 8ga to amps....
OR
2ga from battery to 4ga to each amp...

spend the $$$ and you shall not be disapointed!

OK, at the back of ur HU, do u have any unused RCA outputs dangling out the back????

I had this problem..... on mi HU there is 1 set of RCA outputs that actualy dangle out of the HU.... These were grounding on something behind the dash everytime the car changed direction ( accelerating, braking, over bumps, etc )

It really annoyed me..... So check that out incase that is ur problem.

seeing as though u might have had alternator whine before this started, u might have fried/screwed RCA tracks...possible stuffed rca connectors.
