Hey Guys,
Just got 100,000K service at my mechanic and as i suspected, theres also a busted engine mount.
When i purchased the vehicle, i got an extended warranty yet my mechanic was unsure if it woudl be covered due to it being rubber = a perishable. Spoke with Mitusbishi and was quoted 300$ for the replacement and labour. got intouch with swann insurance (warranty) and they are willing to cover the cost for the mount.
so anyone whos having engine mount troubles, look no further, if your car has done upto 100,000K's and is a TJ/KJ expect your extended warranty to cover the cost.
i guess they dont see the mount as being a perishable item, atleast upto 100,000K's.
just thaught i'd pass the info along.

Thanks... As for engine mounts. A member on here sells them for $110 delivered and you can fit it yourself, or at most pay a mechanic one hours labour ($60+-) to do it.

Sounds to me like you were pretty lucky to get your extended warranty provider to cough up for anything (although I get the impression you haven't got the money yet).
I'd recommend not replacing it with a genuine mitsubishi engine mount if you can get your mechanic to source an aftermarket one....... OEM one will fail because it's rubber and super squishy.

polyutherane is the way to go if you want it to last alot longer.... i personally found it a tad harsher but thats expected as the mount is far more solid

I recently made a custom polyurethane mount (http://martybugs.net/Pintara/mount.cgi) for a U12 Pintara, as the ~$200 cost for new mounts from Nissan was excessive, and they just weren't lasting....
Depending on the polyurethane hardness, you shouldn't get too much more engine vibrations, and it should last forever.

Martin.

Im confused, I thought, Megatron takes your original engine mount and inserts some polyutherane into your orginal mount? Or does he get you a totally new engine mount with the polyutherane?
As, I was thinking about getting this done, but my mount is cracked already, and if its only replacing the inserts with polyutherane, and not actually a new repalcement engine mount with said polyutherane insert then.....
Because, if thats the case, I would still have a cracked engine mount wont I, with just new synthetic inserts?
A bit lost...some clarification is needed....
