Ok i plan to get a aftermarket steering wheel in the near future for my TF which has no airbag. Now the porb is it has Cruise Control which i love but am willing to part with.

Now here is my idea. Since the cruise control will become useless would it be possible to somehow use my cruise control button (the button on the dash) as a switch for my neon installation?

I assume theres a 12V source running to that button as the light on it lights up?

im not so good with all this electrical stuff so was just wondering if this idea could actually be done and if so how?

if your car has an existing airbag in its steering wheel. it is regarded as being defective if u decided to remove the factory airbag (steering wheel) to replace it with an aftermarket steering wheel without an airbag

My mate has this on his magna and i just reckon it looks messy and just plain yuck. would rather have the nice stealthy look.

yeha was reading some other threads about this and it seems to be a lot more trouble then its worth really

yes it would be possible, but depending on where it is exactly and the type of button it is, it might be very messy, could u take a pic of where the switch is, i dont know 3rd gen's that well.

I have at least 4 switches on my dash which arent actually switches (look like they are, but nothing is wired to them) and im going to use them for switches to neons etc..

i prefer the stealthy look to, my mate has after market switches all over his pulsar, i mean they look good, just completely out of place in a yellow DATSUN pulsar lol

i know this button has wires running to it coz i pulled my instrument cluster apart had to disconnet them in order to do what i needed too

yeh just find a 12v live wire behind the button that is activated when u press it, buy a relay and the 12v from the button will turn on the relay. So u dont have a large amount of current draw from a little wire (if you tried to run the neons off the button itself)
