in general speak how do i work out what amp fuse i need, eg.... i have 1.2kwrms worth of amps... how many amp fuse is needed etc...
also, do sealed subs play lower than ported? and im assuming its correct to say that subs that are a few weeks old play louder than brandnew as thay have loosend up???

than normally are about the same, its just goes how they are tuned in the end but theres not much difference
yeah subs do sound better after thay have been run in after a couple of runs

huh? ok..mmmm..not sure about that comment
Andrewd, you say your running a total of 1200WRMS right? can you tell me how many amps you have, how you have got them wired with what gauge wire, and how many watts they are each?
Each amp will require a specific fuse for its wattage

Your amps should have fuses built into them already, so just add up the total amp amount for the fuses and there's your answer :).

Spot on. Add up all the fuses in your amps and buy one of equivalent amperage and put it right nest to the battery.

ah ha ok thanks... atm it's got a 60a fuse on the battery.... but the total of the amp's fuses is OMG 140 amps!! lol
i untill now havent run the mono all the way.... and well... i did the otherday and my inner ear huts... it's like 2 days later and it still aches lol...
im going to upgrade my specs a lil bit if i have a few $$$ left

prolly do you fuse at the battery the same or a little less. Be better to blow it at the battery than at the amps, less likely to cause any expensive damage!
Oh and BTW picsorban lol

If you have a total of 120A chances are you wont be drawing anywhere near that.
a 80W or 100A Fuse is fine dood

i agree with him, anything over 100amps is goint to be rare.
Ive just been informed that 120amps is what you will need.
here is the maths
P=VxI
(P= power. V= volts, I= current)
1200 = 12 x I
1200/12 = 100
100 amps. total.
120amp fuse to be safe.
These numbers are from my personal electronics engineer

unless its for competition
what size cable are u using? just remember not to exceed the current handling capacity of the cable. If you are using 4gauge or thicker than, 120A will be fine. I have about 1.5kwrms or so and i'm only using a 100A circuit breaker. 100A to 120A will be fine for you.
ported boxes tned to be tuned to a certain frequencies. In general ported sub boxes tend to play slightly lower. They tend to be bigger, so slightly more efficient, therefore slightly louder than sealed boxes. Yea, be gentle to ur brand new subs...just like new..uhhh, yeah. Be gentle, go easy etc etc

nah, stuff going easy, they are cheap as povo subs.... blow them up!! then i can get some good gear and really deafen myself :badgrin:
i just found a pack of 60amp fuses, i'll just use them all up before upgrading.... although im not exactly blowing them every 2 seconds so it's all good
