Hi guys,

I've been given a (well) used 5speed galant GSR gearbox. Broken selector fork and stripped 3rd & 4th gears. Synchro's aren't real good either.

The guy was going to throw it away, but he said if I wanted to learn about gearbox's theres no better way than to fix one.. My question is where do I buy bits for gearbox's? I know some people are going to say "ah go get a whole box from somewhere it will be cheaper, ra ra ra" but I really am keen to learn about the whole synchro/gearing system that I will ultimately be trashing again anyway (i love my auto :))

it doesnt have to work again away

dont know who is the galant manual gearbox guru in this forum

if you want the syncros and the gear bits

you try every gearbox repair place you know
often they have bits and pieces of boxes all over the shop
or buy another broken box from a wrecker

I would prefer if it did work again :p
I'll call around a few gearbox repair places and see what they can do for me on Monday.

I was wondering if somewhere like Autopro or Sprint would be able to order something in..

Any other suggestions?
