Hi All, have undone all the bolts on my intake manifold after removing the plenum and throttle body and have also removed the nuts on the retaining bracket as well. Problem is even after wrestling with the damned thing I still can't get it off. I can push it so far towards the firewall until the manifold is almost free of the bolts coming out of the engine head but it won't go any further. Any ideas ? Also whats the best type of silicone/gasket goo to use as I would like to replace the gasket between the head and the inlet manifold. Any ideas much appreciated.

I had the same problem when I did the head on a TR, till I found out that the manifold is bolted on by two 14mm bolts on the engine block near the knock sensor. You can't get at them from under the car.You need a real short spanner to get at the bolts from the behind top of the head. These are real bastards of bolts to get out and wait till you need to replace them.:D
