hey fellas (and the ladies to) well, as some of you know i recently got my new wheels, now being the large diameter that they are (20") my car needs lowering again, its already got lovells s/low and low combo, but my shocks have pretty much had it and they wont be able to cope with the springs compressed another 1-2 inches, now my friend works at repco and i can get stuuf through him at up to 60 percent off, now ive opted for monroe gt gas shocks as ive heard good things about them and im sure a few people on here have them yes? are they a good shock? also theres 2 different types my mate told me, the normal gt gas, and the heavy duty sport? basically im after your reccomendations etc... which would be better, oh and im going to stick with the gt gas cos i can get fronts for 95 bucks each and rears for about 135 each!!!
cheers,
tom
EDIT: just did a quick search also, seems monroe is not a very favoured option by some... to harsh apparently, id like to hear from people that have owned them and there expiriences if possible, also can any one give me more info on "lowered shocks" if thats the correct term
thanks all

im not to fussed about f1 like handeling, my shocks are clapped out, and i want it on tits like yours haha, my car handles sweet at the moment, but my drivers side front shock has already been rebiult cos i head on'd a curb and its making all kinds of noise, and i dont think that one, let alone the rest can handle being lowered anymore, but thanks for your input, glad i can get it from some one in the same boat (no pun intended lol ) as me

if you compress your springs more dont you have to get smaller shocks so that your springs dont slip outta place eazier?
well i think thats right

Look for short strut shocks, there for lowered springs. Koni's are a good option cause there for the life of the car, you dont get new ones you pay the $60 each to be rebuilt when there ****ed.

I've got Monroe GT Gas shocks on my TJ Verada which is lowered on King Springs. I don't find them uncomfortable at all. I prefer a firm and controlled ride.

I was recommended KYB over Monroe GT by a lot of people for their build quality and performance. I will be getting the KYBs when I get the money.

KYB are standard replacements, Monroe's are **** to. If you want something good for handling and length of life get something decent.

Try looking for Boge's, wilkinson sell them and thats what I've got on my car, I cant compare them to other magnas as i've yet to ride in another lowered magna, they're a german company and the shocks are made in japan. IMO my car is wayyy to harsh but I get the feeling thats the king superlows, once I get some more money I think I'll get some lovells, they're supposed to have a lower spring rate.

Probably similar to what I do, at mine sites you do 12hour days all overtime is double time, that's 4hour mon-thurs, 6 hours friday double and I can do 7 days on 2 days off, so if you start on a monday you've worked the weekend that thats 24 hours of double time and you get a nice base rate on mine sites to, well electricians to I know that.

hay everyone
i have kyb shocks in my car and im rolling on 20s with custom made springs and if i were you id stick to standed shocks over the kybs any day they are sh#t or put some money into them and get koni or some nice coil overs
the kybs ride way to rough with lowered cars with rubber bands for tyres and if you dont mind all your wipers coming on and sh#t flyin around your car then by all means go the kybs and have fun lol but i hate them

No offence, but I doubt the shocks have a real lot to do with it. I mean, you're on 20" rims with skinny as tyres and compressed springs... How do you expect it to ride? Wouldn't matter what shocks you put in, that setup will always be rough as guts.

yeah i expected it to be rough and it didnt bother me but i was just saying i had 20s on befor i put the kyb shocks on my car and the car felt better on the standed shock compaired to the kyb's
i found the ride with the standed shocks to be far better then the kybs and jase aka tzaboys running 20s like myself with koni and has no probs with the roughness
so i think it all comes down to what you like best in the end no matter what shock you put on your car
