Ok, Having a bit of a problem here.
I bought a sigma which has had a TP magna head and EFI gear put onto its carby 2.6
It came with an engineering certificate from the ACT (no use in NSW) and i need to get a blue slip for it

Rang the RTA technical hotline

Call: I say: i have a Sigma with Magna EFI do i need an Engineering certificate?
They say: as long as all the EFI emissions gear is in place its fine, what made you think you needed a certificate?

Ok, so all is cool and i ring a mechanic to organize a blue slip.
They say: You need an engineering certificate for the efi swap
I say: the RTA says its ok...
They say: I dont care what the RTA says, i will not pass it without a certificate

(are they allowed to just set their own rules?)

So i ring the RTA tech department again..

Call: same question.
They say: NO, magna EFI would be considered aftermarket fuel system, you DO need an engeneers certificate for this.
I ask if a whole Magna engine would be ok, and they say as long as it was no more than %15 more powerfull (isn't it %15 more CAPACITY) and it had an unleaded filler neck (how would i fill it with leaded anyway!)

Basicly i have no idea what to do now, i can't really get an engineers certificate as they want to charge $500, and reckon they will find any small defects, even things that would pass a blue slip and are unrelated to the EFI system...

And even the RTA is not sure if i need one!
Any Ideas?

This is the page that may help, but i can't work out if its in my favor or not...
