Would this be possible with correct modifications

if ur talkin about a magna awd..

im guessin youd need a custom gearbox.. no way u could get a stock manual and just chuck it on.

apparently one of the EVO gearbox's fit onto the AWD magna engine with some sort of adapter/sandwhich plate or somehting.. i'm not too sure

been discussed a few times, and apparently it is possible, but doubt it would be cheap.

most of the AWD stuff in the magnas was borrowed from the automatic EVO's that were sold in some countries, so id guess some of it would have to be interchangeable

the EVO GT-A gearboxs from the 6/7 dold in north america and europe are the same as the invecs II box used in the magnas, you'll need an adaptor plate, custom clutch, pedal box, complete after market ecu, and something that can handle the extra features of the evo box like the super ayc etc, and a bunch of other crap. would be a complete head f*ck give up now lol

Sorry, but the gearbox is just a gearbox. You don't need an ECU. You need to use the bellhousing from your auto, flywheel and clutch from a manual magna. Mounts are the same apparently.

AYC (automatic Yaw Control) is in the rear differential:

*3... AYC (Active Yaw Control)
Housed in the rear differential, the computer-controlled AYC traction control system
optimally regulates torque transfer in the rear differential and thereby tailors rear
wheel differentials to match driver operation and vehicle operating status. The system
adaptively regulates the yaw (turning) moment that acts on the body, equalizing the load on the four tires and thereby improving vehicle stability and cornering performance.

ACD (active centre differential) is in the centre differential (duh)

*2... ACD (Active Center Differential)
The ACD traction control system uses an electronically controlled hydraulically activated
multi-plate clutch to regulate slippage in the center differential, which splits torque
equally between the front and rear wheels.Regulating differential limiting action between
free and locked to match driving conditions, the system realizes substantial improvements
in traction and in steering response and feel.

By using your standard 50:50 centre differential and rear LSD - no issues.

Tweakit in Sydney have two evo6 manual boxes, but they wont part with them without buying the Evo6 engine to which they are attached. They are quite adamant on this.

people have trouble when they from auto 2wd to manual 2wd with the ecu...

the bell housings are different apparently.

and the flywheel etc of the awd engine is also apparently alot different.

and those at acd etc are all features of the gearbox and are electronically controlled i read somewhere that if they werent functioning the gearbox would not function correctly. however perhaps that was with the evo ecu.

and how do you know that you will still be able to use your rear and centre dif, i know they share similar parts with evos but doesnt mean changes havent been made...

I think I will rule that off my to do list- Damn and was only talkin about buying an awd
Verada today.

the electronic trickery in the evo's is in the diff's and the EVO computer. because the magna doesn't have AYC and ACD, the computer isn't looking for signals from/to them, not an issue now. a manual gearbox is just a metal casing with gears inside. it would be the same electronics as doing a auto -> man swap on a 2wd, reverse sensor, by pass neutral start switch. the only hard part i can see is the physical mounting. now i've never really looked at the mounting/physical location of stuff in the awd. Heath says the mounts are the same (i believe him... not very often he's wrong :) ) so the only issue would be attaching it to the magna centre diff... is it built into the back of the gearbox like the fwd's or is it mounted to the output shaft of the gb more like a 4wd transfer case???

mmmm.. sandwich plate....

i have one here gerard, along with yours and ashys chicken chips :P

And yeah a AWD would have more strain on the gear box wouldnt it? the FWD gear box would b useless methinks.

I like having a manual, but if I was going to spend thousands on my awd I would just put $$ into more power and live with the auto: it is a great box even if it does suck some power and it's less likely that you would be creating other issues down the driveline.
No sense having massive power if you can't get it onto the road

I think AWD manual magna would be a great combination. RPW should attempt it on there twin turbo project they enjoy hurling money and time into magna modification.

Then we sit and watch and do after it works :p

Something tells me if it was easy, they would have done it already ;).

You have to tell the ECU that the g/box is in neutral apparently.
