My Ralliart/AWD brake upgrade is complete. The front brakes I did a couple of weeks ago but TZABOY released his 320mm upgrade at the same time and took the wind from my upgrade sail.lol lol
Not to worry, I'm very happy with my 294mm front rotors.:D
The Rear Upgrade was almost as easy as doing the front brakes although I needed to readjust the handbrake and bed in the new drums and modify the dust shield.
All the preliminary stuff about jacking up vehicle etc.. I wont bore you with....
Step 1 was to spray everything with brake cleaner and remove the old caliper and hang it out of the way.
Step 2 was to remove the the old rotor. Using the two little thread holes on the hub and some appropriate bolts, I managed to pry the rusty rotor off the hub.
Step 3 required me to remove a small piece of the dust shield to allow for the new offset of the caliper bracket. (See Picture) The finish wasn't great due to my inadequate tin snips (and eventual blister on my hand) but a quick file took off all the sharp edges.
Step 4 was to Put the new rotor on (Post cleaning) and bolt up the new caliper using the 3.7mm spacers, new bolts, loctite and hook up the new calipers brake line.
Step 5 a brake bleed and handbrake adjustment and on to the other side.
Not the dramatic improvement in braking compared to the front upgrade but certainly a subtle improvement is noticable. Braking feels balanced and confident. Well worth the effort.
