Hi everyone, i know there are a few people who have KR Veradas who have replaced the original ECS suspension. I need to do the same and Im not sure what is involved in terms of parts etc...
I went to a couple of suspension places around nepean hwy they kinda all directed me to pedders, so pedders quoted nearly $1400
So i was wanting to know for a cheaper alternative, what parts should i get from wreckers or is it worth getting it all new?

I know I got quoted $450 by brakes plus to do my front suspension but I know that a car can generally run fine with what they call "completely blown out suspension".

Hello.
I turfed the ECS in my KR about three years ago. Pedders did the work.
I got a lot of other stuff fixed as well (heads overhauled, brakes, steering
rack, cam belt, water pump being the main ones) so the labour cost was
sort of mixed in with the total. Don't ask - it still hurts when I remember
reading the the bottom line on the bill they gave me when I picked the
car up!
If memory serves me right, the suspension parts alone were around $850.
Yes, it cost $$ but I've not regretted doing it.

(E)lectronic (C)ontrolled (S)uspension. Have you ever noticed when you jack your car up (I think it was only on the elite and veradas) that it stays up really high until you start the car. I think mitsu was one of the first to use it.

go here, http://madmagna.atspace.com/veradahome.htm , then navigate to the tech tips.
One bit of advice, avoid the Pedders if you can, you are better off going to a wrecker and getting good second hand items.
i have seen plenty of Magna's with fairly new suspension there, I recently picked up front and rear GT Gas with Kings for 75 per end, sold them on e-bay for $140.00 per end.

The ECS only came out on the KR XI Verada as an option. The EI and Elite were not offered with this. Mazda had this system long before Mitsubishi and the euro car makers have had it for years.
One fatal mistake people made with these was jacking up the car without putting the suspension up to full height. This lead to pinched air bags, the compressor has to work full time to keep the height and thus wears out quicker.
