hi all i been a member for a while but this is my first post, any ways i have a 86 magna and i am going to spray it back with red interior as u will probly notice i no little about customising. my questions are:
is it safe 2 spray my door/floor carpet with ordinary red paint or do i need special paint?
can i paint the dash with normal paint??
what do i need to install a pod filter and how do i do this???
is it safe to buy an old turbo sigma or such and swap parts onto my 2,6 astron????
and i want to put one of those jap exhausts on it, do they shound good on magnas????
any help will be great thanks to everyone for ur helpful posts

i sprayed my dash, doors and the pillar covers with plastic primer, black dulux paint and clear gloss, all in cans and it came up awsomely
the floor and carpet will need some special kind of paint i would assume...
pod is no go, messes with sensor, get a k&n oval pod, got me a proven 1.7kw extra
cannons sound alright, but meh.....

I may be selling my K&N air filter (fits factory can), as i upgrading my afm to a 2nd/3rd gen afm, so i can run a direct(without big bends) induction without going behind the battery

EFI or Carby ?
If injected you will need a K&N
But there is no harm in using a Pod on a Carby.
assuming carby... being 1986 - it's probably a TM
you can go to efi easily enough
OR
you can upgrade the carby.
the carby option is cheaper for better results IMO.
Sigma bits will fit, they are essentially the same motor, but there are differences small differences for example: pistons are flat top in a magna, manifolds are different being FWD/RWD, head revisions in magna engine (ie lifters, cam profile), etc

ok, you can get a k&n filter that fits where your original filter goes

Agreed. it's the easiest option.
what is suitable for carpet painting
VHT Carpet Dye, however if your gonna do your whole carpet, it's probably easier and cheaper to buy new carpet int he colour you want.
a place like http://www.knoxautocarpets.com.au/products.htm has what your looking for. click under mitsubishi, you'll see "MAGNA TM,TN,TP 1985 - 1990 FLOOR CARPET, BOOT CARPET"

indeed for what its worth, plus that carpet dye will still ware off and would never look even
my new carpet is from that joint and there fairly good, as for the door trims, just go custom, i used black and white vynal for mine
