Hey guys, had a quick search and couldn't find answers to all my questions.

Anyway, for some unknown reason this week my stereo began to make a popping noise when I turned the key. Just one single pop, then it's back to normal. I wasn't sure if it was the amp or the headunit, so I turned the deck off then turned the car off and on again. Nothing. Turn the headunit on - POP. So I'm assuming its something to do with the deck.

Any idea why this would just randomly start happening? Haven't changed anything to do with car or system at all. It's just been sitting in the garage. Do I have gremlins in my car pulling plugs and undoing bolts while I'm asleep? lol

Also, more importantly, how the hell do I fix the problem. I think it goes without saying that it's really bloody annoying.

Thanks

Does it pop when you turn the volume from 1 to 0 and vice versa? And when you change from cd to tuner?

Nope, only when it's first turned on.

I'd say it must be the gremlins....

Nah, What speakers are amped??? Coz i only have my rear ones amped and the fronts off the HU.... What im trying to get at here is if you have only 1 set of speakers amped, and the popping only happens through the amped speakers it could be a problem with the soft starter in the amp.....

Thanks for that, it was the amp. Looks like it was gremlins playing with the wiring terminals.
