Has anybody done cam belt replacement ?
Any info stopping crankshaft from turning so I can remove / install front pulley bolt.
Manual requires transmission to be move back and install tool to hold flex plate.
The only other method I can see is remove drain pan and use a piece of wood to lock crankshaft.
Also does front pulley come off ok or require puller ?
Does pulley have bolt holes to bolt puller too ?
Thks Greg ...

No offence intended, but messing with camshafts is a case of if you have to ask, you shouldn't be doing it.
This is for the simple reason that if you miss a tooth, you will either have a drop in performance, miss a few, and the crown of your piston may come and collect a valve - the clearances are critical!
I would seriously suggest getting a mechanic to do this, rather than attempt yourself. Had a timing belt break at 4500 rpm on a fiat - fscking scary! Imagine an engine lockup on a car travelling at 80K - destroyed the auto trans as well.
Just some advice.

Well I made my own tool to hold crankshaft pulley from turning ...
Worked out 100%
Very tight 182nm + 100,000klms of hot an cold to tighten it even more ...
Anyway had wheel off, plastic covers off from inside wheel arch, got all cam covers etc off app. 1 hour ...
Then the biggest pain was the alloy mount bolted to block about 1 1/2 hours to move it out the way ...
Can't remove from vehicle can only move out the way
Remove and refitted cam belt no problems ...
You do need the manual to reset the auto belt tentioner, and to check free length when installed ... (I have manual on CD)
So I think Mitsubishi dealers quote 8 hours to r & r cam belt, via moving transmission back and fitting tool to hold flex plate ... (I was quote app. $385 - 400)
So anybody else game to do there own ???
Can borrow the tool if you wont (If your in Perth that is)
Seeya Greg ...
P.S - I was service manager and workshop foreman for large engine recondition shop (Then I got smart and got out)

I do these in about 2 1/2 hours in general.
If you have not doen this sort of work get it done.
I use the rattle gun to remove, does a treat. You can also lock a braker bar on the lower control arm and give the engine a quick crank. Be sure to disconnect and earth the ignition system. This is not the prefered way but can get yo by.
