where can i get a fan or two, where to mount the fan/s and how do i hook them up

speaker amp is heat sink, woofer amp is fan cooled, skiport is left open

are your amp fan cooled or have heatsinks on them?
also keep the ski-port open to allow the hot air to flow out
as for the fans there was a thread not to long ago on how to hook them up
you just use normal computer fans

*EDIT* check out this thread on how to wire them up

Yeah off the remote wire should be fine, what brand amps are they and have they already got fans or heatsinks, also have you had overheating problems before in the past?

BTW, Whats with the ugly chick in your avatar?

an alpine is running the speakers, and cadiance is running the woofer, nah not heating problems really other then, the sound quailty dimishes a bit with high temperatures and i'm worried about cooking my amps in the heat

p.s what's wrong
with avena lee?

i don't think there is anything to worry about. I used to have cheap strathfield stuff pumping hard through the summer heat and never any problems.

Alpine and Cadence should be able to take the heat without extra cooling.

yeah amps normally do that to stop them from overheating
what power wire you running?
is the sub amp running on full gain?
might wanna chuck a couple of fans on the fan cooled amp as they have alot of trouble trying to get rid of the heat that they produce

power wire if you mean gauge, i think, the speakers are running 8 gauge and the woofer is running 4 or the other way around, i couldn't make both use 8 gauge cause it couldn't physically fit, i know about good brands and that in the car audio part, but i don't know how to tune amps, i just got my sound upgraded a couple of weeks ago focal splits up front, alpine amp for speakers, so they tuned the amp i couldn't tell you unless you told me where to find out what the gains are

just see how you go
you've got some good name brands
so you shouldn't have to much dramas with the heat
if they start to over heat just add a couple of fans to the amps and your done

For some nice fans, LED/Neon/UV/Clear, check out www.pccasegear.com.au for a guide then just do a search and you will find them cheaper else where.

8 gauge for speakers???

Speakers are AC, they dont require large gauge wire. 16 gauge or smaller is fine.

I dont think your amps will have a problem with overheating. If anything any SQ you gain by installing them will be diminished by the sound of the fans.

depends on the brand of your amps, cheaper amps dont come with inbuilt fans, i had the same problem my amp used to get so hot you couldnt touch it. so i took off the back plate and drilled to 10cm diameter holes in it one at each end, then on the inside of the back plate i mounted a 12V CPU fan and airfilter pannel then connected it to a normally open thermostat at 50 degs connected the fan to the remonte wire so when the amp is on so is the fan, and connected the termostat to the main constant power, so now when the amp comes on the fan does too, and if for some reason it does overheat and i turn the amp off the termostat will keep the fan on untill the amp has cooled down to the set temp

Guys your amps shouldnt be runinng this hot in the first place...

You are simply asking too much from too little. If you want more volume buy proper gear. or try and eliminate ambient noise (sound deadening etc) so you dont have to turn it up as much to get the same output)

Buying a cheap amp with no power is asking for trouble.

If you are after SQ as the original post hinted at, your gains should never be cranked up as this increases your noise floor.
Good SQ comes from lots of headroom, your amps shouldnt have to break a sweat.

Im running 1 kw rms just for front stage duties my amps hardly heat up and never distort.

Peace

in normal conditions such as 20-23'c OAT my amp remain luke warm, but the moment the OAT increase my amps get hot, i can touch them and keep my hand there, but i feel they should be a bit cooler, and at night they work a dream, its just during the day , in summer conditions,

its not that the amp is not powerfull enough i have enough power form the amps but it just ran warm when music was a normal level but hot when i had it loud, so i just added the fan to it. and now it runs cold even when loud and i havnt had any problems with it.
