hey all, nearing completion on the fun, therapeutic(not) replacing head gasket job.jagged a gd.head from wreckers, given the all clear from experts, followed all insdtructions to a tee.done all head bolts up in recommended sequence,to the 3 stated torque wrench settings ,using a quality torquewrench.am just a bit concerned that they reached the 98nm & clicked with no real effort.do you know what i mean?i could easily get a few more turns out of all of them if i chose to i reckon.is this right or am i just stressing over nothing?????
cheers.

If the setting was right on the wrench, the figure was outta the book and the wrench was ok then it should be fine.
A torque wrench is a lot longer than a standard ratchet and you get more leverage with it. Its not unusual to feel like it was too easy. Beware of going further as you may just snap the bolts.

I would be going to get the torque wrench calibrated/tested before going any further

Yeah I would imagine that any decent torque wrench thats new should be farily accurate (+- 5%). Most good tools shops will recalibrate it for you when you buy it.

I torqued mine to 100nm on the 3rd go, then tried to tighten em to 110 (3rd stage was 100-110)
But from 100-110 it only moved maybe a half turn? so it did seem only a little bit but they im pretty sure there on just as hard as they were to get off
GL with your project, im doing the same thing only twice the pain (V6)
