so anyways... my 1985 car doesnt have a cat, as it is a leaded model - it does not have the adr for a cat.
anyhoo... when i got the car, i always ran unleaded. i put a new motor in, and still running it on unleaded, but has the emission control system of the leaded model.
do i need a cat?
the car doesn't have the adr for it, and they dont nessesarly know if the motor is actually unleaded or leaded (for those playing at home, there is no visible difference really between leaded motor and the ULP motor, also my motor does not carry the existing mitsubishi engine number stamp)
BUT if they stuck an analyser in my exhaust, then it'll be a different story because unleaded fuel burns differently to leaded fuel... thus producing more toxic stuff. but then brings me to my earlier point, the car has not cat as it doesn't have the adr.
i've been told conflicting arguements... so anyone got any idea?
discussion will begin.....
