on the weekend i replaced every hose on the TP (heater hose had a pin hole so do one do em all) in the process of refilling the car etc with water and burping the block i hear a hissing noise and im like wtf it cant be steam as the car has only been running for 10 seconds, turns out the vacume pipe on the non-throttle body side of the plenum has a split i changed this out and it has smooted out my motor considerably as well as running alot better, this pipe go's to some thing bolted to the fire wall what i want to know is what does it do?

not the fuel pressure regulator is it? it comes from the plenum the goes to a solenoid then to the regulator

I think it is for the purge control valve for the fuel tank gasess. Having the vaccum leak would have caused the rough idle. Mine hose has broken a few times now.

Hopefully it's not for the brake booster!

put my money on fuel pressure regulator... the thing on the firewall is the solenoid that controls it

check all the vacuum lines for leaks, including the vaccum for the brake booster and EGR. eco light on means there is no vaccum in the manifold.
