Hello everyone,

My GF's magna needed the balance shaft replaced after the nut holding the balance sprocket came off and chewed the end off the shaft. So replaced that and thought I'd do the timing chain at the same time. All good so far.....

So put motor back in went to fire it up sarted but ran pretty bad was popping and really rough, so after stepping back and going through and double checking stuff found and corrected these problems.

-cam shaft timing was out by 2 teeth (dowel not a 12o'clock at tdc was more like 1 o'clock)
-2 leads in wrong spot on dissy
-reset the timing to the books specifications( between 5 and 13 btdc)

also have checked
-fuel pump works, fuel to the rail
-spark at the leads

And now will crank over but won't fire, sometimes it sounds like it might but then nothing.

I think thats where I'm at so far, This car is really making my head hurt:rant: . So if anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly apperciated.

Thanks Chris. :)

When you set it up the crank dowel should be at 3 o'clock and the cam dowel at 12 o'clock.

Are you sure the crank was in the right spot?
