Do they have to be 4"s? Is it possible to use a spacer and mount a 6".....cause for $100-$150 you can get some pretty kick ass 6"s.....

I have a pair of decent sounding 4 inchers in the front, Sony ones, cost me about $50 a month ago from Strathfield.

for 4 inch don't spend anything over $50 cuz it's just not worth it. I had some jensen 4" in my TR and they went alright.

there is only so much a 4" speaker can do, so why pay soo much?

get the pioneer TS-E 1025 4" two way. go hard and from the smae family as the bullet splits (TS-C 1625) be warned, they are as deep as they are wide.
also the latest blue clarion 4" doesnt do a bad job on a high pass filer.
ive actually got some Kicker 4" coax's lying around from around 2000, been used in a Saab 93 their entire life (used for 2 years), and a very very nice sounding speakers. play nicely down to around 80hz.
the tweeters are smooth, not the slightest bit bright, and while rated at 40W RMS, they will take 100W RMS happily. had 2 pairs, gave one set to a mate who was audioless and in need.
if your keen, ill let go of the other pair for $100 inc postage. comes with original box, spacers, grills, and plastic packaging, flawless condition :P model is I400, sold for around $200 in their day.

hehe, just use a flathead plier to lever the cover off
After that you will need a small drill bit (philips head) and put that on the end of a ratchet, its to undo the screws as there is next to no room.
to get to the wires from the drivers side u gotta take off ur dash surround (2 screws) and from that you then take out your right hand side heater/air con vent, and you can trace the wires behind there.
for the passenger side take out the glovebox and the cover behind that...
easy!

:stoopid:.
The differences between a $150 one and a $50 are going to be minimal.

one word for you focal and they cost soooo much i would say go to autobarn or someone like that and take a listen to what they have
make sure you do listen first tho. focal has a love/hate reputation, a lot of people love the sound of em, and a lot of people cant stand the *** sound of them :)
be aware, first hand, youll have to spend over $250-300 these days and get a set of 4" splits that will really compete with these kicker ones.
