Need to re thread the bolts on the head for the intake manifold...(TR V6)...Dont ask me how how but i somehow managed to swash the front 4...anyway.....i got the right die (M8 x 1.25) and i cant use that two-handled thingy for it....there is just no room for it to swing around...
Umm need some ideas on what to use to grip the die and also turn it around....i sort of need like an extension bit so i have some room (probably need the handle bit to be like 4 or so cm higher then it is)
anyone know what i can use? some peoples said pliers but they just dont do anything....as soon as i redo these threads.....the car will be almost done...

If you get clever with some gal pipe, you could probably do it - or failing that, you could always get someone to weld it to a socket, and use the ratchet driver to move it.
You must have made a mess to have to re-tap the threads - Methinks it would be a better idea to fit new studs as if you are applying a lot of torque to the (weakened) threads, they will strip off. Don't ask how I know this

Ive traced down a Hex Die, which i can use with a socket and if need be extension bar, if not, im going to hunt down some new studs, what i probably did was when puting the inlet manifold back on, knocked the threads on all the studs flatening a few threads, so when i went to put the nut on felt tight....
....does mitsu sell studs?

Hey I done the sae thing, threads flattened as if they were made out of playdough, I was just going to re make the threads with the nut.

Hey I done the same thing, threads flattened as if they were made out of playdough, I was just going to re make the threads with the nut.
hmm nah better to use a die....its only the top half of the stud though....bottom half looks fine.....i was just very pi**ed off as it seemed my original nuts did not fit....i which they didnt but should....Hmmm

he wont actually be "retapping" the bolts on the heads, if its the same thread die to the bolt in the head, all it will do is slightly clean the thread up to make it easier to get the old nut back on.
all that happend is exactly what Paul said, the inlet marked the thread on the bolts and slightly damaged them.

The nut used is M8 x 1.25...(used a thread gauge) so i dont know if anyone can confirm that but the studs were the exact same thread....so ill be using that die to "clean" (thats the word i was looking for) the bolts....hopefully that does it, shall update this tomorrow!
