Hey everyone, i am such an audio noob i must be annoying everyone with these threads lol, sorry.
Anyways, i have installed my system , and it sounds really nice, but when i put my Head unit back into position (console back in), my head unit can't be turned on.
Also, if i have my power on, and i tilt the head unit so the face is angled slightly down, it seems to turn on, then when i push it back into place, it will turn off !?
I have checked the REM connection and it is solid as, i even got my sparky mate to re-crimp it for me.
Anyone know what it could be ?
all replies are appreciated !

Sounds like an earthing problem. When you angle the HU it earths on the frame inside the dash, when you push it in it obviously doesnt. Grab your black wire coming out of the HU and screw it to the frame behind the dash.

do you mean the factory earth wire for the head unit, or the wee little one attached to the RCA cables ?

There should be only one black wire out of the head unit. That is for earthing. The one that travels down the rca cable from your amps is the remote wire which should be wired into the accessories circuit.
EDIT: What brand HU do you have?
EDIT2: Reading your profile seems you have a JVC HU... I have never had anything to do with JVC so i cant tell you wat wires are what.... sorry dude. but Black is usually Earth wire...
You should also have your HU screwed into that steel frame. That usually gives it a propper earth.

yeah, the weird thing is that i didn't take the headunit out to put the RCA cables and REM cable in, i just tilted it forward so i could access the back of it. It is weird cuz if i jiggle the wires whilst holding the headunit in a certain place it can turn on or off, so must be a problem there.
But a t least i know the majority is wired up correctly lol, nothing like your first :bowrofl:

sounds to me like a loose wire
check all your wire again behind the deck
check where you have joined to h/u wires to the main harness
maybe try soldering them always works for me :D
