Pimped your ride then get ready to pay- the title on an article in MNS Money (http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Insurance/InsureYourCar/PimpedYourRideGetReadyToPay.aspx) covering the realities of imposing your personality on your vehicle. This article covers the common sense issues when dealing with insurance companies\and the realities of what may happen to your ride after you have parked it and walked away. Having today dealt with Shannons, I can only reiterate what is said in the article- tell your insurance company the deal. Shannons were exceptional, in their coverage
and costs for my vehicles- but each persons circumstances are different of course.:D Similarly this article covers areas already covered in the FAQ and Mod Basics but extends to the new found trend of pimpin to the max.

That article suggests that consumers jumped on the bandwagon to mod their cars AFTER shows like Pimp My Ride started... I would've thought those kind of shows were created in response to the growing popularity of car mods in society... not the other way round.

Although, that article is really only all about what I'd call 'rice mods'. Although the insurance part of it is just kind of common sense.

If you have half a brain, you would know about the wider issues in modifying your car. That article is stating the riceburner obvious.

The article is aimed at little 14 year olds who dream about owning a car that they saw in fast and the furious.....:doubt:....It covers the sort of research anyone would do before forking out large amount of cash on their car (one would hope). Heck my car is being turbo'd, and will cost me about 14k by the time its done (full engine rebuild and new gearbox being done aswel). I dont expect to get much of that back...probably somewhere around the 3k mark, if that. As for insurance, I got my quote with shannons (and yes, great service with them) before I ordered anything, because if I wrote the car off, I dont want to lose money...Best part is Im avoiding going rice with it, except gotta love some ppl when u tell them that I'm turboing the car..."You've gotta have a massive BOV so that everybody knows your car's turbo, otherwise you've wasted your money"...:doubt:
