This is the 3rd time in 8 years I have to replace the mount that is located at the front of the engine. ( the one near the passenger wheel - that you can easily see). I dunno what the go is but every couple of years they give out and I gotta go get another one pressed in. Does anyone else chew out this mount often?:tantrum:

No problems here, although, all my mounts could be shot and I wouldn't know... But the mechanic never said anything...

If your mounts are stuffed you'll know at Idle.

I can see it, its on its way out, as there is a portion of it being squashed out from the top. Like the mount has actually collapsed. As I said I have had this problem before and know what to look for, am wondering if any other 1st gens have this prob. I do have to go over heaps of speed bumps everyday (????) Yes I do slow down for them and am not into intentionally damaging my car.

Do you mind if you get a sligh high frequency vibration in the cabin? For about $80 dollars you can have poly rod packed in, which will never break.

Yeah we were thinking going down that path, the vibration wont matter to much it will be the hubby's work car by the end of the year. Im just so tired of checking whether or not the mount is still good. To have one that wont break would be a champ.

Where do I get one? and do they fit em or do I gotta get someone else to do it?

You goin on this cruise 2moro?

The front one does tend to collapse quite easily i've noticed too - in the case of my TP magna, it was failing so often due to the shock absorber that's attached to the mount too (i think that shocker is only there with an auto transmission tho), which had failed. I fixed that and i haven't had a problem since.

Also make sure there isn't oil somehow working it's way to the rubber of the mount, as this will eat away at the rubber extremely fast too. ;)

if ur not worried about vibration and also don't want to be checking it all the time, you could always go to a fabricator who works with or on race cars and get them to make a soild alloy mount that u probably won't need to change again. more than likely will cost a bucket load but u'll have it there for the rest of the life of the car. just food for thought anyway.

Yea Jason mentioned those ones, I was gonna look at that option however to replace one I would need to do the lot as wouldnt one that was super firm chew out the others?

well u could try the poly ones in the queensland section.
or there's always the cheap option. all 4 of mine are like this for now and they have been like that for 6 months with no hassle's

engine movment is that what u mean?? the vibration is a bit more at idle but it put's the power down better.the auto seems to shift smoother. and they all look like they were put in yesterday. as a cheap option id recomend it to anyone. plus i have no rubber in the tp , all the bushes front and back are poly , but i ordered them off fulcrum and put them in and has made a big difference. corner's i could take at 50klms i can now do at 80klms. next year im gonnna put in the rear swaybar kit (16mm) upgrade the front swaybar(22mm) and get a fabricator/enginer (bs) to make me strut braces front and back the it should handle even better than now.

I did a mates lancer with 4 of them, but 1 will do you which should take the slack off the rest of them. It will have less vibration with only 1 mount done.

I always found that the back engine mount on mine seems to have the biggest difference on idle vibration. It seems to make this really loud resonance vibration in the cabin, which really gets annoying.. which is one reason i wouldn't recommend not having any mounts installed... Only problem is when they break constantly, and the cheapest ones are like $60 each - it does get very tempting to leave them i guess, especially the back one since it's a pain to replace.

Does anyone know where u can get the poly mounts in melb btw?

Thanks,
Dave

Brunswick Magna quoted me $56 each for all four of my TN's.... I think that was fitted. I never had it done though.

Give Chris a Call on 9384 0401 and tell him I sent ya. I spent thousands with him before I bought the new wagon, I trust him almost 100% when it comes to Magna's. I never trust anyone 100%.

yeh meant engine movement, hmm so long as they hold thats all i care about they can be hard as **** for all i care just want solid ones that last for once
mm i can agree with the bushes too, i got mine from whiteline, but yeh look in to the sway bar its probally been the best thing handleing wise, i got the front and rear done for what it was worth. it just sticks to the road now where as the rear was always floaty before i put them in
