Hey guys,

I have 205/55/R16's as my stock rubber. I have been to 2 tyre shops enquiring about 18's. I am getting 18x7.5" wheels but what size rubber will keep me within 15mm? I was told 215/35/R18 at one store and 235/40/R18 at another?

I would think that with a bigger sidewall you can decrease the profile so why is it the other way around?

215/35-18 is more used for smaller cars with smaller wheels.. i think they mighta made a mistake there. Also the load rating for tyres with that dimension will not be anywhere close to what is needed for a magna.

235/40 is what you need, 18s are slowly becoming common and prices have dropped.

Your best bet is to go 225/40 R18. These have an OD of 637.2 which is only 5.5mm bigger
than the 205/55 R16.

Very good Gerard. I am just joining in on the fun. I started my life ( back when I was 16 in 2001 ) with a TE Magna Exec then moved on to a TJ Magna Sports when I was 18 which has served me for a long time and only recently I bought the Bora. I love my AWD 6sp V6 with ESP and tan leather + sunroof :bowrofl: I'm so Euro trash!!

As you can see, over 1000 posts, I am an old boy on here :D
