I have these stickers on my car saying SX-R there is one on the centre console one on the boot and one on either side of the side skirts.Are these here for any reason or did the previous owner just put them on just for looks.

Previous owner maybe, or could have been a dealer special car, do you have any options that don't look standard?

i might look into it and see if it actually means anything or not

I think dealers do this all the time to flog cars. i.e cruise control, power windows, air con etc for a discounted price over the regular ES, LS, VRX, GT etc variants.
