whats involved in shifting the battery to the boot. also what legal things would i need to know especially in south aussie

I think you'll find it will have to be in a sealed box and be vented to the outside of the vehicle. Can get boxes from Marine spare parts places.

I would also be putting a big fuse/circuit breaker on it too. But yeah can get the boxes from supercheap and the like too.

use a sealed gel cell/AGM battery... i dont care how well attached and vented it is, i wouldn't want a lead acid battery inside my car

yeah or a calcium batery thats sealed aswell
i think i have an autosalon edition with relocating battery to the boot
actually i do, its edition 47, sitting ontop of my pile :D
looks like a B1tch of a job thou.
Just get a shop to do it. Save you PLENTY of time and angst. after all, if you screw up you can't acutally drive the car anywhere to get another part/your grandma to help you, so the money would be well spent.
