Aye
When I got my TF it didn't come with a instruction manual so there a few things I dunno about it. First off is the speed alarm, I know how to set it and how to turn it off by holding the two buttons in but it keeps resetting itself after starting the car a few times so every now and then its goes off "OH MY GOD YOUR SPEEDING!" So can you make it so it doesn't reset and also can you make it into a digital speedo like the VR-VS commo ones can?

A second question I feel kinda dumb bout askin is did sumthing change with the tranny dipstick from the TE to the TF cause mine doesn't have one and the bloke I bought it off said theres a bolt on the gearbox that acts as a measure for mechanics but the TE's I've looked at all had a dipstick. Personally I think the guy I bought it from lost it and gave me a bullsh*t reason but still I can't see where its ment to go.

have u cheacked ur interior light fuse??

Just after i converted my car to 3.5 manual and all the associated wiring i also installed power windows and the wiring for thelil red courtesy light in the door got caught in the regulator and pulled the wire and shorted it out the result was disasterous i was panacking. due to the fact every time u restatred the car the speed alarm reset back to 60km/h and also no interior lights no sensors to tell me if the door was open and the car was running like a dog and kept stalling wouldnt idle also the fuel gauge was sitting on full when i knew the tank was empty, i traced it down to the interiour light fuse. who would have thought one fuse could controll so many thing

was your TE auto?

usually autos have a dipstick, and manual have a filler hole (eg the bolt that you undo and check the fluid level)

Here's a couple of pics on the one page in the workshop manual that shows the speed sensor (left) and the dipstick (right).

Off topic: What's the difference between transaxle and transmission?

Automobiles drivetrains generally have two or more areas where gearing is used: one in the transmission, which contains a number of different sets of gearing that can be changed to allow a wide range of vehicle speeds, and another at the differential, which contains one additional set of gearing that provides further mechanical advantage at the wheels. These components might be separate and connected by a driveshaft, or they might be combined into one unit called a transaxle

what these guys are saying about commodores is putting the trip metre into Testing Mode..

In doing so it shows you stuff like engine temp, Speed, tacho, Volts and a few other all on the trip metre display.. Easy to do.. You need to hold down the mode and the ^ button on the trip metre controls when you start it and release it 3 seconds after car has started..

This enters the test mode they are talking about.. use the Mode button to skip through the display.. Once you turn igition off it goes back to normal..:D

My understanding is that 'transaxle' includes transmission and differential. FWD ftw :)

Back to the OP...I think the guy you bought from did some dodgy stuff and that's why you're having problems. The speed alert shouldn't reset and there should be a dipstick. If he's on here, he's 'got some splaining to do'!
