View Full Version : Unlocking CD Player
I have a standard Magna CD Player and cannot seem to unlock it. I had the car battery replaced and the CD Player now says 'code'. I know the code that the previous owner set but i dont know how to put it in. The instructions say something about turning the keys to acc. then a '1' will come up or something. this doesnt happen. any ideas?? its a 98 magna sports if that matters
Cheers

you should just have to type the code in when the deck is turned on
you only get 3 attemps at putting the code in
or you have to wait awhile for it to reset itself

i didn't think that you could change your code in a stock head unit? anyways, mitsu should have the code on file, just give them a ring and they should be able to give it to you

they will need the numbers off the headdeck to get the code

nah the code cant be changed its a set code for each unit
must have be given the wrong code
ring up the dealer where you got the car from and they should be able to tell you

from memory, they just need the vin or rego in my case as mine was bought at a dealership
he said he knows the code.. he just doesnt know how to put it in :P
ive never needed to do it so i would have no idea.. just thought i would clarify what he is actually asking so people stop giving random advice :P

well then, if thats the case the preset numbers on the radio should be the numbers(1 to 7 i think) that you enter. when it says 1, enter the first number, and so on.

For when I did mine, the memory preset keys are your number keys.
I think there were 1-6... so your code shouldn't have any digits bigger than 6.
So when it says code just press the right mem keys in the right order.
Mitsu factory has a database of all HU codes for each VIN they built, rego can be changed.
Dealer can get code for you if you give them your VIN (of the car the HU was built in).
Whether they charge you for service is different matter.
Totally different to the HU in Accord, where it was like setting a digital watch.
Which I bungled 3 times and had to leave it on acc with engine off for 1hr for it to timeout.
I do know the code, I called up the mitsubishi guys and they confirmed the code. However they were of little help in knowing what buttons to press.. I can get to a screen with 0000 and then with the 1-6 buttons i can select my code. However i dont know what button to press then. I have tried them all. any thoughts?
cheers fellas
