HI
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem with their indicators.
When i move the indicator arm down to turn right it makes an annoying noise (like a grinding sort of noise) but doesn't actually indicate unless i tap it up a little bit. But i have noticed lately it is getting worse and worse and it won't actually indicate when i tap it up.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks

ye mines doing that to. if i indicate to the right makes a buzzing noise. iv noticed if i actuall hold it firmly and indicate to the right it dosnt make the noise. i think its just lose connection. just like an electrical zap thing until it makes contact.

happens to me at well, but I tend to click down not at the tip of the indicator stick but the inner or middle part to counter this problem.

I had one that done it too (this is starting to sound like an AA meeting), i bought one from a wrecker, it didnt even work, put the old one back in and worked fine from there on. I put it down to not being screwed in properly or came loose i dunno. Worth tryin tho.

Mine does it too, kinda a buzzing noise, I just whack the stalk and it goes away.
Would be nice to find a remedy for it though.

Mines been doing it for 4 years now lol
I've gotten quite skillful at carefully placing the indicator in the right position so it stays indicating and doesnt buzz.
The has been threads on this. Apparently it IS the electrical connections that get dirty or loose, and is fixed by taking off the stalk and cleaning it and securing it back on.
Taking the stalk off looks too hard to me :P

And i thought i was the only one with this problem, i bought the car with it and has annoyed me ever since. I took it to an auto electrician and was told it was costly, at least half a days labour to take the whole steering wheel carp off and clean the connections, but if the insides were too rusted up, then the whole thing would need replacing which was also costly.
Sounds hectic ay .... guess ill live with it :(

My son's TE had this problem. Buzzing noise. It failed its rego check (NSW)
because of it, so we had to fix it pretty quick.
We bought a new one off Mitsu. Don't remember how much it cost, but it
wasn't cheap. $150 or so.....? nar, can't remember.
Anyway, it was a cinch to fit. I'm no auto electrician but it only took me about
ten minutes.
If we'd had more time we would have gone to a wreckers instead of buying a
new one, maybe even tried to fix the old one. It didn't (to me anyway) look
like it came apart easily though.

It doesnt bother me when it happens, I just whack it and it goes way, its just when I have passengers or a friend driving my car that it bothers me, then its a bit embarassing.

it is a dirty connection. they retail at mitsi spares for ~$250.
it can get annyoying. it was a common and known problem for TE-TH magnas.
now for the gold.
if you can be bothered. open it up. and clean the contacts, and re lube it.
it should fix your problem and save ~$250.
*crowd applauses*
thank you thank you.
ill be here all week. maybe longer.

i noticed mine do it a couple times so now i just refuse to indicate to prevent the awful sound it makes rather than prevent an accident:bowrofl:
