have a tr magna on dual fuel but now wont run on petrol. tried it the other day and in just died almost, had no power seemed to backfire a little and the red warning light came on. runs brilliant on lpg better than my kr verada i used to have. i think it could be one of two things 1/ the afm has had it , i am tending to lean this way 2/ the fuel filter is blocked and needs renewing ?.
need your expert opinion

sounds like your fuel pump has seen better days
or maybe a blockage in the fuel lines

Our utes at work run dual-fuel Gasman said when it runs good on gas and crap on petrol it's generally valves on their way out but i'm no expert:)

If you don't run it on petrol much then the first thing is the injectors start to get blocked, so the car will hesitate when you go to accelerate. After that your looking at yes, fuel filter, and even fuel pump, blocked fuel lines etc...

The 2.6 astrons run pretty well on gas, never had a problem with valves before. (We have had 3 in the family, each well over 200,000kms on gas and no engine/valve problems)

By constantly running your car on gas (and not running on petrol) the injectors are most likely to be the problem.
I'm tipping if you got your injectors cleaned it should run fine.
Next thing to look at would be your fuel pump and filter.
Even if running on gas you should run your car on petrol at least once a week to keep your fuel system clean. Most late model duel fuel cars actually start on petrol then change over to gas just to keep the fule system running.
Alternatively, switch over to petrol just before you get home of a night and start the car on petrol.
We've done that with many cars and never had a problem.

I only run my falcon on PULP when I run it on petrol (about every 3 tanks of gas I do 100K or so on petrol). The only hassle ive had has been when I havent and the injectors get fouled.
I just wack some injector cleaner in the tank, get her up to higway speed (on the open road of course) and change her over. Usually it runs for long enuff to clean em out.

Failing that its hello mr injector cleaner guy.

Ive done about 500,000K total on my last couple of duel fuellers with no real problems (cept the odd inj clean)

problem is now fixed. changed fuel filter it was abit dirty but not to bad. then filled up using 98 octane added a bottle of x-1r fuel treatment. i reckon within 5ks it started to run better and within 10ks was absolutely fantastic. starts no problems now
