Howdy Folks,
I'm looking at a set of mags (2 are 17x8; and 2 are 17x9) all are fited with 235x45 tyres. The wheels have a +38 offset. Will they fit legal or stick outside guards? I would go and try them on but they are in another state. Any thoughts?

y can fit 9" rims on the magna but you will have to get a ithink a series II VRX control arom or a ralliart one.
cummins has 9" wide rims on his ralliart

You serious? There must be a bees d!ck of room in there.
Also i'd assume you'd need to roll the guards?

But wouldn't it give more room on the inside because of the extra 7mm offset?

So fronts would be pushing it? But rears are fine?

Well you put the 9"ers on the rear and the 8"ers on the front... yeah?

yeap. like wat cummins did 8" wide front perfect size and 9.5" back.
8.5 in mine it only scrapes the splash gaurds. any wider and ye will be trouble
BUT!!!
if you have 9" wide rims think you will need 245's and if you get pulled over and cops sees the 245's they will know the rims are wider than 8" and ye u will be defected

that should be fine, PM cummins and ask him what offset he has on both rims and he should solve your problems :D
I know my 19x8s all round had an offset of 40

So in closing. Yes, 9" rims will fit. But they are completely illegal?

does everything you do to the looks of your car have to balance out with power?

Hear! Hear! I'm sure everyone want to have a horny lookin car... And if 9"ers on the rear are goer, that all helps make the dream become reality.

Hehe yup completely illegal, no if's or buts on that one.

I think its quite obvious from the cars here that no it doesn't.
I was stuggling to wonder why. If its for vanity then then its definately each to their own as to what looks good.
For me personally it wouldn't be practical.
If its to look good, have you considered 18s to fill the guards? 17s are often considered too small. Yes you might get defected. But you might get defected with 17x9s as well

Does the fact that my car is a wagon change things?

Someone also mentioned earlier that you can't fit 235 tyres to a 9"... that is not quite right. You can fit 235's on 7" to 9" rims.;)
