Hey guys I'm putting in my old mp3 deck in my car because the stock one is a tape deck and it sucks.

I took the stock deck out and to my surprise, its got the stock harness un cut or anything so its as if its been un touched since factory lol.

On the factory deck and harness, its just got the positive leads for the speakers and uses the ground as the negative for all of them.

The deck I'm putting in, has a negative lead for each speaker ( white with black stripe green with black stripe etc)

I tried connecting them all to ground but didn't work ( not surprised actually) is there a way to make it work without putting in new wires ? I just want it as a quick fix so i have something to listen too for now.

Nope!

NOT a good idea at all (as you found out) to use GND as the -ve of the speakers. You will have to run a 2nd wire to all your speakers.

I put a sony xplode hu in a mate old XF and the speakers had a similar setup, i just didn't end up connecting the ground to the speakers and it worked (don't ask me how). But i'd say you'd most likely need to run new wires to each speaker.
