Ok i have searched the forums and have came up with nothing. (this is wrong they should be here some where) I was wondering if a thread like this could be made sticky and those who have done this could fill us in who want to do this mod like myself.

I would like to know what is involed and how to do it step by step

How much do u want to know? if you a mechanically minded or have a friend who is a mechainc then there is really not much too it, if u have looked a all the threads u will now exactly what parts u need, and what to look out for.

Everything is pretty much swaps straight over, only major things u have to do is drill 3 holes into the firewall for the clutch pedal (for which the cut outs are already there so u carnt go wrong), and the other is to just earth out the inhibtor switch so u can start the car

if u want a work shop to do the work expect anywhere from 1-2k just for the labour

THANK YOU.... would you have a pic of that inhibtor switch or is that easy as well?
now do i have to trick the ECU?? Drive shafts are fine dont need manual ones

by earthing out the switch the ecu thinks the trans is in park/neutral alowing u to start the car, it staright forwad aswell, basically u bridge 2 pins on the connecter that goes to the inhibtor switch on the trans,

I cant remeber which pins they are but i can tell u i got the information off one of the threads posted, i think it PhilTH who had the information

dude, manual magna's are cheaper than auto's (because soft oldies dont like driving manuals)...flog ur auto privately for good cash and buy a manual magna and keep the extra moula.

changing from auto to manual is bloody hard and expensive. firstly u need to buy a manual gearbox, a clutch plate, pedal and cylinder to work the clutch...u will also need to change the console covering. u may also need to change the fly wheel (i could be wrong) to accomodate the clutch. this is about $2000 of equipment at a conservative guess and then there is another $2000 for a mechanic to pull ur entire engine bay out fiddle with the guts of ur car and put it all back again.

and thats if the floor pan of an auto is the same as the manual.

in my limited experience, i found that manuals were more expensive. i figured cos grandmas wanted to buy autos, so they are rarer, but they are obviously better, so more ppl want them == higher prices.

i could be wrong...

The only thing i need to do is find a manual gear box, I have a Fully reco transmission from mitsubishi that has 30000 kays and costed me 2650 bucks. Now at the time of getting a new auto tranny i was asked by the dealer if i wanted to go manual for 4grand but didnt have that kind of money. I can either wait the next 4 years and then sell, Or i can do a manual conversion for $1500 all done in my back yard as i have 4 mates who are very mechanically minded.

Ok new car manual yeah i want found one for 18990, 2002 VRX
Current loan on car 16054.
Trade in 8000
Total 35044 - 8000 gives you 27044 to be re finance with a total payment of 633.40 a month

Now if i go $1500 thats only $42 a month:cool:
