Hi guys,
I recently installed a Sony 500w 4Channel amp, and it works allright when I'm parked, stationary and obviously not moving. However, when I turn it over, drive off, like anywhere between 20 seconds and 1 minute later it turns off. Can anyone tell me why? All the fuses are intact, I have fuses on the power lines, fuses on the amps themselves... it just doesn't make sense... the only thing I can think of is the remote cable may be damaged, if so, is there a way around this?

Check your ground wire, could be wiggling loose as you're driving. Or there could be a wire that's shorting out on the chasis but it's intermittent.

i had that happening to me a while back. as M4 DD OG said could be lose wires. mine were touching each other so the amp went into safe mode and turned of. just check all your wireing, maybe change your ground point as well.

Is there any place for an optimum grounding? Like, best spots on a car and such... at the moment it is mounted on a bolt which is mounted to the child safety harness mount hole.

Just make sure its as close to the amp as possible, and has a nice clean contact with the metal surface, i.e. sand down the paint to get to bare metal.

I'll give it a look over again, damn my car, giving me nothing but troubles lately.

sounds like a loose wire
i've had a look at your pic that you posted up of your boot install
from what i can see your ground wire join together to create a single wire then ends at the chassy
ground wires should be a single wire from each amp straight to the chassy unless the wire is thicker when you join it
this may be your problem

your grounding to the parcel shelf, worst place you could ground to :) personally i just use a seatbelt bolt because im lazy and because its there.. but the most ideal ground spot is a bolt you make yourself on a nice big thick bit of the boot sloor (that isnt your fuel tank).

this said, ground is pretty unlikely to be your problem unless its loose at the amp itself, but still worth trying.
another good way to eliminate a possible problem is to get a small piece of wire and screw it between your power terminal, and remote terminal, so the amp is permenantly ON, this way itll eliminate a loose/damaged remote wire :)

I thought the Y join i ghetto-d together was the problem too, so i just ran one wire up to the shelf, turns out this wasn't the problem as it still suffered the same fate.

Haha yeah I was looking for a diagram as to where the second gen fuel tanks are, decided against drilling anywhere lol (Search function here is gay)

That's what I was considering, perhaps I could wire a switch up to the front of the car to perform this sort of action? Helluva lot of wiring for what it's worth though :(

i use a switch myself.. stupir remote wire shat itself 3 times in different configurations, so i gave up and ran a 16ga run from cabin to amps, straight to my 8ga deck power wire, and put it on a switch.
its a bit of a pain to have to flick on every time but imo its good to have that sort of kill switch on the amps. maybe one day ill reroute it to my ignition accessory wire and be done with it.. who knows :)

but for now, just try the wire between power and remote, that will at least give you a diagnosis so you can decide wether its time to redo your remote wire or not.. if it is then the remote to your other amp is obviously still fine, so just daisy chain it from that one :)

Have you got out to see if the amp is actually off or not?

Could be a speaker wire..

Looks like it is actually going into protection mode even with the remote wire hack, time to go back to the drawing board, professional install here i come :(

is there a seperate remote wire for each amp running to the deck?
or are both wires connected off the 1 remote wire?
