buy the K&N Oval POD filter that is esp for the MAS sensor that mitsu uses...

In NSW, it is illegal to have the POD exposed in any way because the K&N ones are oil based PODS...

PM megatron...or philcom our club sponsors...they will give you a good deal

Yep exactly!!

Also make sure you have figured out a good way to mount it, because if you dont you will be loosing performance not gaining!!!

you will need the adapter that goes from the Mitsi air filter to the oval shape for the pod. Its about $30 from memory.

Dont get a standard poid though, make sure you get the oval shaped one or you will just be losing performance.

Yeh you can get the adaptor at repco or supercheap auto, have a look at the back of the adaptor boxes, it will tell you what one is for the magna!!

but yeh then you will need some other piping etc to mount it away from the heat of the engine, search for TH smoker kit, thats probz the best way to mount a pod IMO!

just buy a $120 panel filter a you can just pop it in yourself easy and no chance of problems, even if you got the pod working properly the gains arn't much at all

Some will tell you round pods have problems. Personally I haven't had such problems.

A run a Blitz SUS Stainless steel round pod, best money I ever spent. Better torque mid range, loved it, still do.

If you were to get K&N, the general consensus is oval is better, or just panel.

If you wanna spend the extra $150-$200 for the Blitz (Autobarn had them for $360 last I checked) then you shouldn't have an problems at all, oval or not.

However be sure to get a LARGE HOLED, oval adaptor. My guess is many people having problems with round pods just didn't get a decent adaptor

It all comes down to how much money you have to spend. Also the Blitz is stainless steel, and does not require oiling, so it can sneak under the ADR's (if the cop is in a good mood of course, if he isn't he'll still defect you :() for exposed pods.

Hope all this helps :D

EDIT: If you get yourself a pod, make sure you make a squared C-Bracket (just go down to hardware store, and tell em' to bend the metal for you) and use the small bolt (you'll know it when you see it) directly under where the pod would go (inside the engine bay, closer to the ground that is) to mount the bracket there. Rest the pod on the bracket, so it doesn't get flimsy and perhaps break your MAF.

Sometimes they use KMAC Customs.. Other times they use Kings.. then re-compress them to whatever height you want..

Just ask what they're using and they're using Kings.. If you want the Kmacs, let them know!

They're top blokes.. I know Hussein's brother here at the Brisbane store..

Sorry if this is repetative ,but, I was just wondering if there is any point putting a Pod on my TH Sports as it already has a K&N panel as standard?

Hey mate, you won't notice much difference in power really, expcept for the sound a pod will make. Much better :D

paper v cheap un oiled pod with adapter = massive acceleration and some kw gain. throttle response is way better plus you do get some power

I had a cheap $30 rampod on. Felt a tad slugglish down low sometimes. Noticed mid-high gains however.
This was just sitting in the engine bay, so thats what caused the low down bog up.

Used to run TH Smokers kit and that was great.

If you wanna stay legal and cost effective go the K&N Panel. If you want the pod look at getting a pod box. I think trevmanox is working on one from ABS plastic.

One day it was pissing down, and that car kept stalling because the pod was soaked.
Also didn't want to risk boning the MAF sensor.

i know u want a pod but i really think (actually know) that the panels are better and less of a head****

ask any performance shop and they will tell you the stock system is better, a mitsu place in adelaide did a test and the panel came out best, im running a pod at the moment and it seems like you get a little (and i mean little) extra revs in top end but i found down low its pittiful compared to the STOCK panel

get a K&N panel filter

yes the pod sounds better but after 2 weeks you dont notice the sound anymore so whats the point :)

mmm i think its more of a hassel 2 run them for such a small gain, i will just go get a new exhaust system put on in the next couple weeks hopefully.
thanks

Put it this way maybe $160 at the most for the panel and piping. A few hundred to make legal pod system that produces good gains. Roughly same performance. In retrospect i know what i'd have done.

Pod does sound cool though.

I just finished making my custom air box last night, its been a long time coming

I've had the K&N oval pod in for ages but it is now fully sealed from the engine bay heat
