View Full Version : Shake While Braking

I have a 98 Magna Sports TF and the brakes seem to shake the car when I apply the brakes, even lightly while travelling in excess of 130. When I brake while driving below that speed, there seems to be not real noticable shake. I know the simple solution would be drive slower, but I am worried that it might be a problem which might get worse. Any thoughts???

i think you might need to change brakes or get your discs machined...

Most likely warped rotors. You can have them machined providing the warping is within reasonable limits and its not toooo expensive. Or you can use it as an excuse to upgrade to some nice DBA slotted rotors :D

Yeah its costs between $20 - $40 per rotor to be machined.
Or you can look at replacing them as said above with an aftermarket set.
They start at $125 a rotor for a decent type. (Slotted) plus brake pad of course.

I have experience of this, but only when travelling > 160. Is your car lowered?

No, my car is not lowered, it is just standard. I only noticed it while travelling fast, so I will just have to keep my eye on it, and maybe get the mechanic to look at it...

might also be wheel out of balance, but get the dba slotted anyway, for looks if not for safety, DONT get the cross drilled ones as they have a tendancy to crack if you give them a hiding, and then you will be in a whole "new" world of pain!! :(
