I'm getting a lukey (LR2779) exhaust fitted next week along with some rpw extractors. I was looking at the unichip site and it says "upgraded cat-back exhaust system (2.5" pipe, removal of secondary muffler, hi-flow primary muffler, resonator" is the way to go for best performance.
Just wondering if this is the way to do it or not?

they're probably right

the chip will add extra air/fuel into the engine for more performance. one of the biggest restricting factors of a stock car is the exhaust. By freeing it up as much as possible (but not going overboard) will further enhance any gains the chip will give.

personally i suggest getting all the exhaust done 1st then a chip

Get everything (mods)you are planning to do in the near future before getting a chip as a retune can get expensive.

Seems like this is one of the basic upgrades one should start with. If you don't mind me asking, how much is the muffler and how much is fitting ? Also where are you getting it done ? Thanks.

I'd like to know that as well, possibly a stainless steel version of it? Don't want to know the fitting as they bolt straight up.

Midas said they will put in the rpw extractors(3-1 race design kit no modifications needed to fit the tj) and supply and install the exhaust for $250. The chip is a future mod, so thought i'd do the exhaust to suit future mods.

I've heard rough prices of $80, would that sound right?

I used to have a unichip on an auto 3.0 TF with K&N panel filter and 2.5" cat back exhaust. Got about 12kW at the wheel peak power increase, but with an increase of at least 4kW at the wheels through the rev range.

I have since transfered the mods to my manual TF (also 3.0) but have not re-installed the chip since (lazylol ).
