I want to supercharge my 2.6 with one of these

Ive seen them used on commodores, and of course the toyotas they where built for.
i would like to know if anyone thinks i would get a decent gain out of it. If it give the 3.8l commodore a boost, then it should go well on the smaller 2.6 Astron2.
I figure i would need custom brakets, some pipework, and asorted other bits and peices, and the blower could be run off existing pullys.
Can the astron2 run 6psi while stock?
would it last?

think of tuning as well

if the maf can read enough air, and the injectors flow enough, it should be fine, i hope, otherwise i will get a wolf 3D of similer. and i will probly rebuild the motor first, couse mine has 292,000kms

hmmm mounting might be weird, how tall is it??
Might be a fair bit of custom work on the intake side. MAF reads for any air it can flow through it (reasonably). For eg look at mikes twin turbo set up its run through the maf although it definately becomes a restriction at some stage.
Maybe you could mount it above the a/c compressor or even backwards...
im definately interested in this.
peace out

just get rid of the a/c and position it there. would be able to mount it off existing brackets with less modifications required. just a thought

I've had the same idea bro
My TP doesnt have enough power, but I cant justify spending so much on a $500 Car :D
The astron2 can hack 5psi, a guy I remember turbo'd his TP and he ran it stock @ 5psi no probs.
good luck

You will need to tune it. Regardless of whether the MAF can measure the air going in, and the fuel system can deliver enough fuel - the ECU will not get the tune right.
Boosted engines require considerably more fuel, and considerably less timing than an NA engine. It will ping its rings out very quickly if not tuned properly.

BB is right, there is more to tuning than just fuel.
You should get a piggy back ECU lol

Depends on the condition of your motor. If its satisfactory, i'd say yes, but expect engine problems maybe 15-20,000kms down the track.
MAF wont like the FI setup at all... you'll need an ecu. As turbo_charade says, a piggyback at the very least.
Hmm... i'm all for it, but i dont think its really feasible for a cheap price mate. Might aswell go down the turbo path. Much better for the astron. Astron has plenty of bottom end torque for quick spool-up, and where it usually lacks power in the top end, the turbo will help. I reckon with the SC you'll get quite a bit of wheelspin  .
