I'm thinking of putting cruise control into my magna, but haven't really looked into what's involved or how difficult it could be. I have the 1990 TP Executive, so it doesn't come with cruise control stock.

I've heard it's better to look at getting the cruise system from one of the older models such as the TN as they don't have the combined wiring loom, and were instead added in with a separate loom. Has anyone had any experience trying to install cruise in a TP? I don't think it would be a seriously hard thing to do... it seems that finding the system in the first place is the hardest i'm finding though!!!

being that yours is an exec - its going to be fairly hard as you dont for starters have the wing panel for the switches, and some of the loom

also the older models where combined as well as the later models but if your still interested in it go the TN over the TP as the tp had more wires and was slightly more complicated

Yeah I was looking into getting the TN cruise system, as it was apparently an option and not part of the main loom, so u could pull it out with it's own loom.

Do you know if the TP cruise system is any better than the TN? I'm not really entirely worried about the challenge of pulling the wires or putting a cruise system in, as installing a central locking system myself I learnt quite a bit about getting wires through that car - i was just wondering about what might be involved really.

if you want to put the wing controller in (cos thats where the buttons for the cruise normally sit, you'll need to change over the steering coloum and the main body loom.

if you get the stuff from an elite, then the cruise will be included in the loom (as will power windows, power mirrors, central locking - though you have it already, and possibly climate control)

as for putting just climate control in, i'm not aware of a separate loom for the cruise. they added it to the main body loom (as there are many different part numbers for the looms). it is easy to wire up however.
