Hi all,

Had an interesting issue with my car this week. Obviously is an Auto box TH, and the clear frosted tail lights in it. I purchased a pair of the 36 Led "bulbs" to put in, to try and make em a bit more red.
Was fine, was making the cruise crontol fail while the headlights were on, thought it was something to do with the current etc.
Then saturday night the gearbox started playing up, and ended up putting itself in that "Limp home mode", flashing neutral light, stuck in 3rd gear. Took it in this morning and they found it was the led bulbs causing all the problems, as the ECU thought the brakes were on the whole time, and something wasn't right.

So, moral is i spose, be careful of the led bulbs, would need a relay put in or something along with them to get them to work.

Just to let people know. Rather worrying when the gearbox is stuffing up and being rather violent.

Cheers

I bought some 36 led for my rear KH Verada tailights and havent had a problem with them at all - Batch or brand problem perhaps? Replaced both the brake and indicator globes-

I can't understand or believe how this could happen just because it's a different type of globe. It must have been a defective globe or a wiring problem. The only way I think this could happen (I could well be wrong) would be if the LED bulbs were of a different voltage or wattage and drew the wrong current, hence screwing with the ECU...

i had my frosted tail lights with LED bulbs for 4 months, no problems with my cruise crontol at all.

The only problem is the indicators flash faster because it uses less power or something

Ive also got the LEDS in my frosted lights, although i have the ones from dick smith, they are quite cheap and do one hell of a job, nice and Red at night and visable in the daytime with no pinkness, i swear buy these LEDS and they are only 8bux each!!
