Hey guys

myself and my mate hooked up my new 4 chn amp 2 run my 2 10 inch subs in my 3rd Gen magna, they sounded heaps good.

Went for a drive and drove fine, i let the engine run for about 10 mins b4 i took off, i started driving and 50 meteres up the road went over a small speed hump, very slowly and my battery died. i just got it off the road and started the car again, everything fine..... drive again 500 meters later same thing it just died in the middle of a road as i was driving had 2 get pushed off the road, all connections are tight and nothing moved.

On my pioneer head deck it has battery meter and it was all pretty good running about 13.4 to 13.6 so i turned off my head dek and drove home, made it ok.

Do u think that i need a new battery or is it something more serious.

Thanks guys 4 ur help.

Did you disconnect the battery when you installed the audio?
It could be just the car re-setting itself, i've heard of people stalling their cars straight after the batteries been disconnected. Try letting it idle for another 10-15 minutes, then take it out for a drive and it SHOULD get better, if not then the battery might be on it's way.

I hope you fused the amps and made sure all your power cables are well insulated.

they have a battery tester there
Take your current battery in (or leave it in the car) and ask to have it tested, they do it for free, this shoudl tell you the condition of your battery

I'll tell you what it is mate, when you disconnect the battery in a magna it resets your fuel management system and so all of a sudden your engine stops recieving fuel. Happens all the time. it is completely nomal and after an hours driving it stops

o crap really, i just bought 1 for 145 bucks lol
owell this batterie is alot better, it still took a while for it to idle. about 45 mins of keeping it at 1200 and turning the steering wheel. its goin 100% atm

all this trouble people have of thier car not running properly after disconnecting thier battery must be a luck of the draw type of thing - I have never had the slighest ptoblem in either my TJ or KJ.....each and everytime after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery they have run perfect.....fuel average a little high for the first 20k's, but other than that....never an issue!

What type of battery did you get? Many of the batteries at Supercheap are supercrap! lol.

Now I may be one that patriotic and wanting to buy aussie stuff, and doing my part to keep that trade deficit down, but I am also realistic. Many of the batteries overseas aren't designed for Australian conditions, and its not so much the heat but the vibrations and rough roads etc. The plates in batteries overseas aren't reinforced like the ones here and as a result the break! (which would really suck).

I'm not saying people should buy a $500, just a good battery suited to their car thats made in Australia which will ensure its longevity. For $145 it should be a really decent Australian made battery!
