Hi There

I want to service the Auto on my 2001 KJ Verada. Just noticed that it doesn't have the external top mount oil filter like my old KH. Does this model have a filter at all? I am assuming it is a different unit then to the standard box.

Whats the procedure for servicing the tiptronic box? Does it use the standard Mitsu oil and how much?

thanks

Hi there, these gearboxs have a internal oil filter and its a pain in the ass to change the filter if you dont know what you are doing. Oil filters are need to be change in tiptronics every 50,000 kms and same with the oil.

Standard mitsu gearboxs oil would be fine, but if you are want to get the filter replace take it mitsu or you local mech.

Hi there, the filter is located in the middle above the sump in the box, so half the gearbox needs to be strip down to get to the filter. Labour time is about 3 - 4 hrs if every think goes good.

mate, dont worry about the internal mesh filter, as they only get a clean, not renewal. just flush the box with mitsu atuo oil, and all will be ok. two 5 litre containers cost about 65 bucks retail.. thats cheap.. and only use the mitsu auto oil!

Hi MitsuMad

did the tranny oil change on the weekend. Bought only 5 litres of the genuine oil and ended up draining 5.5litres, so I bought a litre of the Castrol equivalent and added a half litre from that. That shouldn't be a problem should it mixing the oils like that? What is wrong with the castrol stuff anyway?

The oil was fairly dirty, and it didn't take long for the new oil to look dirty as well. A mechanic told me that it is nothing to worry about as the full amount has not been drained in torque convertor. True?
