I have had my KJ Verada converted to LPG and as most of you are aware, you have to start it up on petrol (computer controlled) before it automatically switches to gas. What I would like to know from other LPG users is, how long (time or distance) does it take before it switches from petrol to LPG. At present mine runs on petrol for 3 to 4 minutes before it switches over to gas. To me this appears to be too long.

Does it matter?
If anything having the engine run on Petrol for a few minutes is a good thing isn't it? We are meant to run them on Petrol for a while every week to lube the valves.
I actually switched mine to Petrol as I drove home, she going to have a weekend of drinking 98% I'm going falcadore hunting!

I have just had my Verada converted to LPG (duel fuel) and as far as i am concerned it drives just fine. I think you will find that the LPG tank will be installed in the boot.

I've been doing 1500kms a week since I had my wagon converted in July. Appart from feeling heavy in the back end, more so when I decide to actually fill the Petrol Tank as well as the LPG tank.
The economy is worse and it's not as powerful on LPG, but if ya need to put a Falcodore in it's place ya just switch it to Petrol.
Biggest difference is.....
$20 a day compared to $60!
Initial punch hasn't really changed, its more top end torque I can feel takes a hit.
I spoke to the gas man and he told me some systems wait till the engine gets to about 40
degrees before it switches to gas, some wait till 2000 rpm before switching.
My one starts on petrol and switches to gas straight away, hardly notice it.
I had mine installed by Brunswick Autogas. Really great guys, very professional. They previously only fixed gas system, but have recently moved into installation also.

How much does it cost to have it converted and can anyone recommend someone in Sydney?
Would it also be possible for someone who has had a TF sedan converted to post some pics? Would give a fair bit of idea of how much boot space got lost.
I know the TF sports is slightly lower than normal sedans but I assume that an LPG tank would not make any difference?
Mine cost $2600, so $600 after the rebate.
Also another point to add about Brunswick Autogas. I accidentally overpaid them by $100 and didn't realise. Got a call this arvo from Chris there checking if I were $100 short.
Wouldn't get honesty like that from too many workshops.

hey Nofy what was the waiting like. How long did you wait before they did it? I need to get my pajero on gas ASAP..
Regards
I didnt have to wait very long at all. Most places were say April next year, but these guys said we will call you once we have a kit that suits.
Might take two weeks, might take 4 months.
He did however say that Pajeros aren't very good on gas because of their long air intake.
You could try giving them a call on 93840401. Chris is the man to speak to.

Just picked up mine 2day, It starts on petrol & instantly switches to LPG & runs fantastic, you can hardly notice any power loss if any at all.
