tinting the lights is illegal

howevever, if you still wanna do it buy a can of night shades from autobahn/cartoys/sprints etc. costs about $15

you then apply thin and even coats over the lights (after you have taken the lights off the car)...wait to dry and do another coat....keep doing the coats until u get the desired darkness.

yep, but u can have it a shade dark or really dark depending how many coats and how heavy u put it but just remember wit dat stuff shake the livin crap out of the can becuase it tends not to be as fine when u spray it and sorta blobs out if not.

CHECK THIS OUT, SCROLL DOWN AND SEE!!

buy headlight protectors and spray them instead!works a treat, and if cops give you greif(WHICH THEY WILL), just take them off!!!!

for obvious resons mel. softens your ray of light. eg can be dangerous for both you and other drivers. ie u cant see properly, people cant see you

also, it makes your car look better , and cops dont like that, they feel it takes away their power, thats why they book you!!!!lol

also another handy fooya tip.

after you tint your lights spray 1-2 coats of clear gloss over the top....

doing this makes it alot shinier/smoother and will stop the tint from fading when u wash ur car/sun light

Is it illegal for only the tail lights? They dont actually need to shed light like a head light, only be seen. And if you only did it lightly (compared to pitch black) the cops probably wouldn't notice anyway

In NSW if your lights cant be seen brightly over a set distance (cant remember what it is) then it's illegal. This goes for rear lights too

And the way it works pretty much rules out tinting the lights. So dont be suprised if you get defected for it.

WGNBOY's idea is the best, tint the headlight covers, then you can take them off if you get in trouble.

true

dont do it unless ur prepared to be annoyed by cops. could get costly

if you get headlight protectors, spray them on the inside, that way they look smooth and glossy!!!! (saves buying clear paint!)

another idea i saw on the road on a BA Ford Falcon is cutting up little strips of god knows what but it was sprayed same colour as the car and placed on to the rear lights horizontally so you can see the lights in between these thin strips of sumthin...they were spaced about 2cm apart, it was a pretty nifty idea....sorry if i confused some of you by the way ;)

Damn.. I've always wanted to have my tail lights tinted to match the car colour.

Surely you must be able to make them a little bit darker and still be legal? Many sports cars have taillights which are stock and a dark tint.. Of course then there is that niggling thought in the back of my mind that if i do tint the tails i'm probably increasing my chance of being rammed up the ass on the road.

Also.. I've never seen this nightshades spray, so this may be a stupid question.. but is it able to be 'removed' later perhaps with a turps or something?
;)

Cheers

you can acutaLLY see the brake lights better in the day...with the BLACk appearence...that is if u havnt sprayed em pitch black (FOOYA style)

alot of mates have done it...sigma, SSS, magn

Mates SSS...he left the clear blinker (top) and reflector and sprayed around them...looked good aS! recomend it!

It's what car dealers do to add value to the car and to take your eyes away from any body problems becuase you focus on them.

I hate those gay 'sports' pinstipings they stuck on festivas/excels!

not on the body work!!!!! i totally agree, it takes away from the body, but on the tail lights its a different story, black pinstriping , equally spaces can look just as good as tinted tail lights plus its cheaper and easier to clean off when you get defected!!!!
